Gross, net, radius, next-longer

Radius is center of rotation to the load. Loaded radius is often longer than the empty tape because the boom deflects.

Gross is the published number. Net is gross minus the deductions that apply: block, ball, stowed jib, erected jib, aux head, rigging if the note says so.

Not listed? Next longer boom, next longer radius. Not the average. Not the optimistic one.

The lesser of chart net and reeving (line pull × parts) governs.

Core math is pencil-only. Practice adding deductions without a phone.
